About Alex
Dr. Alex Ilitchev has supported technical writing at Thermo Fisher Scientific since 2018, guiding scientific communication across our analytical instruments and software. They are a biophysical chemist by training, having received their Doctorate in Physical Chemistry from the University of California Santa Barbara along with their Bachelors from the University of Pittsburgh. Their graduate work centered on ion-mobility mass spectrometry of peptide aggregates, which looked to expand our understanding of a number of amyloid diseases, such as type II diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the potential interaction between otherwise disparate protein disorders.
Alex has authored a number of academic research articles and now leverages this experience to facilitate scientific communication efforts in our electron microscopy division, helping our engineers and researchers produce clear and effective blogs, datasheets, application notes, and other technical documentation. They support a number of research areas across the life and materials sciences, building on their multi-disciplinary background as a researcher to speak to our customers on their level. They are passionate about scientific communication and education, and hope to make the often complex nature of our techniques and instrumentation understandable and accessible to anyone who is scientifically curious.
